Troop Information

Troop 101 is an energetic Boy Scout troop with a proud tradition in the Rochester Hills community for the past 22 years!

    • Troop 101 was started in April 1988 with 13 scouts and 3 scoutmasters.

 

  • Troop 101 is chartered by the Rochester Elks.

 

  • Currently we have 26 scouts.
  • Fundraiser:  One fundraiser per year, Our Annual Pancake Breakfast which is held on the Sunday after Labor Day at the Rochester Elks Lodge (Arts and Apples Weekend).
  • International Scouting:  One of our eagle scouts recently participated in the first International Scout Exchange program to Saudi Arabia.
  • We are an active scout troop with a proud tradition.  The adults in the troop provide a positive environment for the boys to develop as leaders as recognized by the recognition of 68 Eagle Scouts over the past 22 years.

Campouts/Events

  • Campout or major activity every month.  Activities and campouts are suggested and planned by the boys and parent committee.  Parents are welcome on all trips.  Some of the troop highlights for the past two years are:
    • Participation in the United States Military Academy National Camporee at West Point, NY
    • Luge, cross-country skiing, skating, and biathlon weekend in Muskegon, MI
    • Indoor Rock Climbing and Air Force Museum weekend in Dayton, OH
    • Canoe trip on the Rifle River
    • Geocaching and Earth Day clean-up
    • Horseback Riding
    • Orienteering
    • Council Camporees
    • Winter Survival Camping
    • Thanksgiving Cookout weekend
    • Dorchester Canada International Camporee
  • High Adventure:  Boys 13 years and older and 1st class rank and above can participate in scout high adventure activities.  Past high adventure opportunities have included White Water rafting, caving, and rappelling, back packing, and sailing.
  • Scouts have also attended Philmont high adventure camp and Sea Base Scuba Camp.
  • National Scout Jamboree:  Four of our scouts are attending the 100th Anniversary of Scouting National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, VA this summer.

Summer Camp

  • Troop 101 attends Boy Scout Summer Camp as a troop each summer.  In the past the troop has attended Lost Lake Scout Camp in Northern Michigan as well as Boy Scout camps in Ohio, NY, and Western Michigan.

Community Service

  • Troop 101 participates in several major community events in addition to smaller community service projects throughout the year.
    • Memorial Day Parade
    • Rochester Christmas Parade
    • Make-A-Difference Day

Troop Meetings

Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  See our calendar for meeting details.

  • From January 1st to June 1st, and September 2nd to December 31st we meet at Van Hoosen Middle School in the Cafeteria.
  • From June 3rd to September 1st we meet at Auburn Hills Civic Park (Squirrel and University).
